The Winston-Salem Open 2012 was a tennis tournament that took place in Winston-Salem from August 19-25, 2012 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2012 and was played on hard court. It belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category and to the 2012 US Open Series .

In the individual, John Isner , who was seeded number three this year, confidently defended last year's title. In the final he defeated the Czech Tomáš Berdych in three sets with 3: 6, 6: 4 and 7: 6 9 . For Isner it was the second win at Winston-Salem and his fifth title overall in his career. In the current season he has already won the Newport tournament. In doubles, Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram were the defending champions, but they were eliminated in the semifinals. In this year's final Santiago González and Scott Lipsky won against Pablo Andújar and Leonardo Mayer in three sets with 6: 3, 4: 6 and [10: 2].

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 48 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The 16 top seeded players each received a bye into the second round.

qualification

The qualification took place from August 17th to 19th, 2012. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
