The ATP World Tour Finals 2012 took place from 5th to 12th November 2012, as in the previous year, in London , in the O2 Arena ; The game was played indoors on a hard court. In addition to the four Grand Slam tournaments, the ATP World Tour Finals are the most important competition in men's professional tennis; they take place at the end of the season. The tournament was part of the ATP World Tour 2012 .

Defending champion in the singles was Roger Federer , who defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the 2011 final . He reached the final again this year, where he had to admit defeat to world number one Novak Đoković in straight sets. For Đoković this is the second title at the year-end event, the first he won in 2008 in Shanghai, when the tournament was still called the Tennis Masters Cup . In doubles were the defending champions Daniel Nestor and Max Mirny , who beat Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski last year . The two failed this time in the group stage. Marcel Granollers and Marc López from Spain as well as Rohan Bopanna and Mahesh Bhupathi from India made it to the final of the double competition, in which some tournament favorites failed surprisingly early , although none of the finalists had ever been victorious at the tournament. The two Spaniards won the title and were able to celebrate the greatest success of their double careers.

Double

qualification

In principle, the eight best-placed doubles pairs on the ATP Tour qualified for this competition. However, a team that had won a Grand Slam tournament and secured a place in the top 20 of the world rankings at the end of the year was also qualified. Through this regulation, the Wimbledon winners Jonathan Marray and Frederik Nielsen were qualified, although they were only 11th in the Race to London relevant for the finals due to the points collected during the year .
