The Thailand Open 2012 was a tennis tournament that took place from September 24th to 30th, 2012 in Bangkok . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2012 and was played on hard court. In the same week the Malaysian Open was played in Kuala Lumpur , which, like the Thailand Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Defending champion in the singles was Andy Murray , who did not take part in the tournament this year. In doubles, Oliver Marach and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi were the defending champions, but they too did not take part in the tournament this year. In this year's individual final, the French Richard Gasquet clearly defeated his compatriot Gilles Simon in two sets. Gasquet was able to win the title again after more than two years in a tournament. In doubles, the wildcard pair Lu Yen-hsun and Danai Udomchoke won against Eric Butorac and Paul Hanley, who were seeded on four . For Lu it was the second double title, for Udomchoke it was the first ever ATP final at his home tournament.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round.
