Hiroki Moriya ( Japanese 守 屋 宏 紀 , Moriya Hiroki ; born October 16, 1990 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese tennis player .

life and career

Hiroki Moriya attended the high school belonging to the Shonan Technical College . In December 2008 he began his professional tennis career, where he belongs to the team of the petro company Kita-Nihon Bussan .

Hiroki Moriya has won three titles on the ATP Challenger Tour so far . In July 2014 he secured his first title in Granby against Fabrice Martin . He won his second title in September 2016 in Nanchang , defeating Chung Hyeon 4: 6, 6: 1 and 6: 4 in the final . In Loughborough , Moriya won his third title in May 2018 when he beat James Ward 6-2 and 7-5. He first qualified for the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament in 2012 when he survived qualification at the US Open . In the first round he was clearly defeated by Ivan Dodig in three sets. In 2015 he qualified for the main fields of the Australian Open and the Wimbledon Championships , but did not get past the opening round either.

In the 2013 season Hiroki Moriya was appointed to the Japanese Davis Cup team for the first time . On his debut against South Korea , he lost the doubles game alongside Yasutaka Uchiyama .
