The ATP Vegeta Croatia Open 2012 was a tennis tournament that took place from July 9th to 15th, 2012 in Umag . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2012 and was played on clay court. In the same week the SkiStar Swedish Open was played in Båstad , the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport and the MercedesCup 2012 in Stuttgart , which, like the ATP Vegeta Croatia Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

In the individual Oleksandr Dolhopolow went on to defend his title, but he failed in the semifinals at the eventual winner Marin Čilić . Čilić, who was in the final last year, clearly won the final against Marcel Granollers 6: 4, 6: 2. It was his eighth career title and the second this season. For Granollers it was the first final defeat on clay, for Čilić the first individual title on clay. In doubles, Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini won the title last year , but this time Fognini played with a new partner; he was eliminated in the semifinals. In the purely Spanish final, David Marrero and Fernando Verdasco defeated their compatriots Marc López and Marcel Granollers 6: 3, 7: 6 4 . It was their third joint title and at the same time the third of the current season. In March in Acapulco , Marrero and Verdasco had defeated López and Granollers in the final.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round.
