Dr. Ulrico de Souza Mursa (born April 18, 1862 in Niteroi , † September 2, 1934 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian engineer and director of the port of Santos . The football stadium of the Associação Atlética Portuguesa is named after him.

Life

Mursa was the son of Laura Clementina Mursa and General Dr. Joaquim de Souza Mursa (1833–1893) and brother of Guido de Souza Mursa (1874–1937). In 1882 he studied engineering in Karlsruhe and in 1884 in Braunschweig and Hanover . In Karlsruhe he became a member of the Teutonia fraternity . After his return to Brazil he worked, among other things, on the construction of the dams in Quixadá , as well as the ports in Santos and Belém (Pará) . He co-founded the port company of Santos in 1892, its inspector and later director of the port.

Mursa was involved in various charitable organizations. For example, he was the first president of a charitable workers' association at the port and a member of an association that supports children in need.

Mursa supported the local football club Associação Atlética Portuguesa . In 1914 he donated the land on which the football club later built their stadium. For this reason the stadium was named after him. A street in Santos is also named after him.

Mursa was married to Amalia Costa de Souza Mursa and had a daughter named Sonia.
