Hamadoun Touré is a Malian journalist and politician .

Hamadoun Touré, who holds a degree in journalism from the Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar , worked for the PANAPRESS agency (Agence panafricaine de presse) and the editorial team of the Senegalese newspaper Le Soleil between 1987 and 1998 .

From 1998 to 2000 he held various positions within the United Nations Observer Mission in Angola (MONUA) and then with the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC) from 2000 to 2004. Touré then became Spokesman and Deputy Director of the Office of Public information of the UN operation in Côte d'Ivoire . He held this post until his appointment as Minister of Communications, Post and New Technologies .

On April 25, 2012, he was appointed Minister and Spokesman for the Government of Mali in the Diarra cabinet . Hamadoun Touré speaks French , English and Portuguese , he understands and speaks four African languages.

After being arrested by the military on December 10, 2012, Modibo Diarra made a statement on state television on the morning of December 11, declaring his resignation and the resignation of his entire cabinet.

In 2013 he was made an honorary citizen of Busan . 2007-2014 he was Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union .
