The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell 2012 was a tennis tournament that took place from April 23 to 29, 2012 in Barcelona . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2012 and was played on clay court. In the same week, the FRG Năstase Țiriac Trophy was played in Bucharest . However, in contrast to the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, which belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category, this only belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

In singles, Rafael Nadal defended his title. He again reached the final, where he met, as in the years 2008, 2009 and 2011 to David Ferrer . And again Nadal got the upper hand in two tight sets and thus secured his seventh individual title in Barcelona. This was his second title in 2012 and the 48th title in his career.

In doubles, Santiago González and Scott Lipsky were the defending champions, but this year they competed with other partners and were eliminated before the semi-finals. In the final, Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski won just under three sets against Marcel Granollers and Marc López . This was their first title in almost two years and their twelfth joint ATP title overall.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each got a bye into the second round.
