2008-2010

Beck celebrated his breakthrough on the ATP Tour in June 2008 at the lawn tennis tournament in Halle, Westphalia . At the Gerry Weber Open , after victories over Marc Gicquel and Mischa Zverev, he reached the quarter-finals, where he had to admit defeat to number two seeded James Blake in two sets, each in the tiebreaker.

In April 2009 Beck celebrated its greatest success to date. At the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo, endowed with 2.75 million euros, he advanced to the quarter-finals as a qualifier; After his first round win over Nicolas Kiefer , he defeated world number seven Gilles Simon in round two and Juan Mónaco in three sets in the round of 16 . This success brought Beck a record prize money of 53,000 euros. In July 2009 Beck was nominated for the first time for the German Davis Cup team for the encounter against Spain by the German team boss Patrik Kühnen . He made his debut on July 9 with a five-set loss to Fernando Verdasco . At the beginning of August 2009 Beck reached the final at the ATP 250 tournament in Gstaad , where he lost 4-6 and 6-7 to the Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci . Four weeks later he reached round two at the US Open after defeating Kazakhs Yevgeny Koroljow (6: 3, 6: 4, 2: 6, 2: 6, 6: 4), in which he failed to Gaël Monfils . Beck then reached the quarter-finals of an ATP event twice in a row: in Metz, where he failed to Paul-Henri Mathieu , and in Bangkok, where it was the last stop against Jürgen Melzer . Beck then played the ATP World Tour 500 event in Tokyo, where he failed after defeating Rainer Schüttler to Tomáš Berdych (1: 6, 4: 6). Beck lost to Radek Štěpánek in round two of the master’s tournament in Shanghai . At his last three tournaments of the year (Stockholm, Basel, Paris) Beck failed in round one. Shortly afterwards he was diagnosed with a " tennis elbow ".

Beck made his comeback after a five-month injury break. in Indian Wells He was eliminated there in the first round against the qualifier Ramon Delgado in three sets. He then played a Challenger tournament in Sunrise, where he had to cancel his first round match against Daniel Brands due to a cold . He also failed in the following four tournaments (Miami, Monte-Carlo, Barcelona and Rome) in the opening round before he celebrated his first victory in several months against Denis Istomin in Munich . In round two he lost to Mikhail Juschny . In mid-May he played for Germany at the World Team Cup in Düsseldorf. He won two of his three singles, but couldn't prevent the German team from going out of the preliminary round. In preparation for Wimbledon he reached the quarter-finals at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle / Westphalia with victories over Serhij Stachowskyj and Nicolas Kiefer , which he lost to the eventual tournament winner Lleyton Hewitt .

At Wimbledon, after five sets against Julien Benneteau , round two was the end of the line, although Beck already served to win the match with a 2-1 set lead. At the following two clay court tournaments in Stuttgart and Hamburg, he already failed in round one. As last year's finalist, Beck played the tournament in Gstaad again - but lost there in round two. This cost him a place in the top 100.
