Defending champion in the singles was Victor Hănescu , who was eliminated in the round of 16. This year's final was won by Thomaz Bellucci , he prevailed against the qualifier Andreas Beck with 6: 4, 7: 6 2 . With that he won his first career title. In doubles, Jaroslav Levinský and Filip Polášek were the defending champions. They reached the final again this year, but had to admit defeat to the Swiss duo Marco Chiudinelli and Michael Lammer in two sets with 7: 5, 6: 3.
The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 398,250 euros; the total financial liabilities were 450,000 euros.
The qualification took place from July 24th to 26th, 2009. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
