The Bank Austria TennisTrophy 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from October 26th to November 1st, 2009 in Vienna . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week were in Saint Petersburg , the St. Petersburg Open and in Lyon the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon played, like the Bank Austria Tennis Trophy for Category ATP World Tour 250 belonged.

None of the previous year's winners ( Philipp Petzschner in the individual competition, Max Mirny and Andy Ram in the doubles) went to defend their title. In the individual, the Austrian Jürgen Melzer secured his second title on the ATP Tour. In the final he defeated the Croatian Marin Čilić 6: 4, 6: 3. He was the first Austrian winner since Horst Skoff in 1988 and only the second ever. In doubles, the Polish- Austrian duo Łukasz Kubot / Oliver Marach beat the purely Austrian team Julian Knowle / Jürgen Melzer with 2: 6, 6: 4, [11: 9]. Here, too, Marach was the first time since 1988, and the second time ever, an Austrian in the winning team (at that time Alexander Antonitsch won together with the Italian Balázs Taróczy ).

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 32 players, that of the double competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 500,000 euros; the total financial liabilities were 574,750 euros.

qualification

The qualification took place from October 22 to 23, 2009. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
