The CA Tennis Trophy 1986 took place in Vienna on October 20-27, 1986 . The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 32 players, that of the double competition consisted of 16 pairs. The tournament was endowed with $ 125,000 . For the first time in 10 years, the tournament was no longer sponsored by Fischer . The Austrian Bank Creditanstalt (CA) took over the sponsorship .

The Swedish defending champion Jan Gunnarsson already failed in the semi-finals. The title went to the American Brad Gilbert . The American duo Mike DePalmer / Gary Donnelly no longer competed in doubles . It won the Brazilian - Polish pairing consisting of Ricardo Acioly and Wojciech Fibak .
