The Erste Bank Open 2016 (officially: Erste Bank Open 500 ) was a tennis tournament that took place in Vienna from October 24th to 30th, 2016 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week, the Swiss Indoors Basel were played in Basel , which, like the Erste Bank Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category .

Defending champions in singles were David Ferrer , in doubles the pairing Łukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo .

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players each received a bye into the second round.

The qualification took place from October 22 to 23, 2016. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
