The Internazionali BNL d'Italia 2016 was a tennis tournament that took place in Rome from May 8th to 15th, 2016 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 and was played outdoors on a clay court. This season it was the fifth of nine tournaments in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category .

Last year's winner in singles was Novak Đoković , in doubles the pairing David Marrero and Pablo Cuevas .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each received a bye into the second round. The total prize money was 3,748,925 euros; the total financial liabilities were 4,300,755 euros.

qualification

The qualification for the Internazionali BNL d'Italia 2016 took place on May 7th and 8th, 2016. From 28 participants, seven qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser
