The MercedesCup 2016 was a tennis tournament that took place from June 6th to 13th, 2016 in Stuttgart . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 and was played outdoors on grass. In the same week the Ricoh Open was played in 's-Hertogenbosch , which, like the MercedesCup, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize money was 606,525 euros; the total financial liabilities were 675,645 euros.

The individual final was interrupted on Sunday, June 12th due to bad weather and played to the end on Monday, June 13th, 2016. In the final, the Austrian Dominic Thiem won against Philipp Kohlschreiber in three sets.

The qualification took place from June 4th to 5th, 2016. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
