The Brasil Open 2016 was a tennis tournament that took place from February 22nd to 28th, 2016 in São Paulo . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2016 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week, the Abierto Mexicano Telcel 2016 in Acapulco and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships 2016 in Dubai . Both belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category , while the tournament in São Paulo belonged to the lower endowed category of the ATP World Tour 250 .

Pablo Cuevas was the defending champion in singles, while Colombians Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah won doubles last year.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize pool was $ 436,220; total financial liabilities were $ 499,055.
