The Brasil Open 2009 was a tennis tournament that took place from February 9th to 14th, 2009 in Costa do Sauípe . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2009 and was played outdoors on a clay court. In the same week the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament was played in Rotterdam and the SAP Open in San José . The latter, like the Brasil Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category , while the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category .

Defending champion in the singles was Nicolás Almagro , who was eliminated in the quarter-finals this year. The two-seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo won the individual competition. In the final he defeated the Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci in three sets with 6: 3, 3: 6, 6: 4 and won his eighth career title. In doubles, Marcelo Melo and André Sá were the defending champions, they were eliminated in the first round. In the double final, the duo Marcel Granollers and Robredo won against Lucas Arnold Ker and Juan Mónaco in two sets 6: 4 and 7: 5. Robredo won $ 104,500 in total for his singles and doubles win.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize pool was $ 505,000 and total financial liabilities were $ 562,500.

The qualification took place from February 7th to 9th, 2009. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
