Men's singles at the 2009 US Open .

Roger Federer and Juan Martín del Potro contested the final . Del Potro won in five sets and was able to take the title from Federer. This was his first and so far only Grand Slam title.

qualification

The qualification of the US Open 2009 took place for men in singles from September 20th to 23rd, 2009. 16 qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There were also two lucky losers.
