Men's singles of the US Open 2014 .

Defending champion was Rafael Nadal , who did not take part in the tournament due to a wrist injury. In the final, Kei Nishikori and Marin Čilić faced each other, both of whom reached a final in a Grand Slam for the first time. Both eliminated the two top seeded Novak Đoković and Roger Federer in the semifinals . Nishikori defeated Đoković in four sets, while Čilić won against Federer without losing a set. It was the first Grand Slam final since the Australian Open in 2005 without the participation of a player from the so-called “Big Three” - Nadal, Đoković and Federer.

Čilić won the final 6: 3, 6: 3 and 6: 3, making him the second Croatian tennis player after Goran Ivanišević to win a Grand Slam in men's singles.

qualification

The qualification of the US Open 2014 took place for the men from August 19th to 22nd, 2014. 16 qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
