Men's singles of the US Open 2008 .

Andy Murray and Roger Federer contested the final . Federer won in three sets and was able to defend his title. This was his fifth triumph at the US Open (after 2004 , 2005 , 2006 and 2007 ) and his 13th Grand Slam title overall. With his fifth title in a row, Federer was the first player to win two Grand Slam tournaments five times in a row, previously he won at Wimbledon between 2003 and 2007.

qualification

The qualification of the US Open 2008 took place for the men in singles from September 21 to 24, 2008. 16 qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There were also three lucky losers.
