The Legg Mason Tennis Classic 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place from August 11th to 17th, 2008 in Washington, DC . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played outdoors on hard courts. That same week, the Summer Olympics were played in Beijing . The tournament belongs to the lowest endowed tournament category, the International Series .

Andy Roddick was the defending champion in the singles, who failed this year in the quarterfinals against later finalist Viktor Troicki . In the final, this defeated the Argentinian Juan Martín del Potro, who was seeded on the second, 3-6, 3-6 . With that, del Potro won his fourth title of the year and also his career and that within three months. Bob and Mike Bryan were successful in doubles the previous year, but they did not compete this year because they played in the Olympics. In the final, Marc Gicquel and Robert Lindstedt prevailed against Bruno Soares and Kevin Ullyett 7: 6, 6 , 6: 3.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize pool was $ 483,000; total financial liabilities were $ 508,000.
