The Heineken Open 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place from January 7th to 13th, 2008 in Auckland . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week the Medibank International was played in Brisbane , which, like the Heineken Open, was part of the International Series category .

The defending champion in the singles was David Ferrer , who was eliminated in the quarter-finals this year as the first seeding listener. In the final, Philipp Kohlschreiber was the first German to prevail. There he defeated the fourth seeded Juan Carlos Ferrero in two sets with 7: 6 4 and 7: 5. In doubles, Simon Aspelin and Chris Haggard were the defending champions. Only Haggard started again and was eliminated in the first round. In the final, Luis Horna and Juan Mónaco prevailed. They won against Xavier Malisse and Jürgen Melzer 6: 4, 3: 6 and [10: 7].

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize pool was $ 439,000 and total financial liabilities were $ 464,000.
