The 2013 Heineken Open was a tennis tournament that took place in Auckland from January 7-13, 2013 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2013 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week, the Apia International Sydney was played in Sydney , which, like the Heineken Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

Last year's winner David Ferrer was able to successfully defend his title. In the duel between the top two seeded, he defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber in two sets with 7: 6 5 and 6: 1. Ferrer was able to win in Auckland for the fourth time, even three times in a row. The Austrian duo Oliver Marach and Alexander Peya won the tournament in doubles last year. That year Colin Fleming and Bruno Soares won in straight sets against Johan Brunström and Frederik Nielsen . For the two of them it was the first joint title on the ATP Tour.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.
