The Swiss Indoors Basel 2013 was a tennis tournament that took place from October 21 to 27, 2013 in Basel . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2013 and was played indoors on a hard court. In the same week, the Valencia Open 500 was played in Valencia , which, like the Swiss Indoors Basel, belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category . The venue for the tournament was the St. Jakobshalle , which is located just behind the Basel city limits in Münchenstein .

The Argentine Juan Martín del Potro was able to confidently defend his title from last year. In the final he met local hero Roger Federer again , whom he defeated in three sets. This year it was his fourth title and his 17th title in his career. Last year, the Canadian Daniel Nestor and the Serbian Nenad Zimonjić won the doubles title. While Zimonjić entered the Valencia Open 500 this year with a new partner, Nestor played alongside Vasek Pospisil at the Swiss Indoors this year . However, they were eliminated in two sets against Denis Istomin and Horacio Zeballos in the first round . Treat Huey and Dominic Inglot won this year's final against the Austrian duo Julian Knowle and Oliver Marach in three sets .

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.
