The defending champion in the singles was the Frenchman Gilles Simon , who won the tournament for the third time in 2012. The defending champion in doubles was the pairing Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecău . While Simon lost in the semifinals to eventual winner Lukáš Rosol , Tecău and his new partner Max Mirny were able to repeat last year's victory.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each received a bye into the second round.
