The Mutua Madrid Open 2013 was a tennis tournament that took place from May 5th to 12th, 2013 in Madrid . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2013 and was played outdoors on sand. This season it was the fourth of nine tournaments in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category .

Defending champion in the singles was the Swiss Roger Federer , who failed in the round of 16 against Kei Nishikori . Local hero Rafael Nadal and Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka contested the final , with the Spaniard clearly winning in two sets with 6: 2 and 6: 4. For Nadal, it was his fifth title in the seventh final this year. With this victory he drew level with Roger Federer in terms of tournament victories in Madrid. Both won the tournament three times. In doubles, the Polish duo Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski were the defending champions, but they were eliminated in the second round. The winner of this year's event was the American brothers Bob and Mike Bryan . They won the final against Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares in straight sets and celebrated their fifth tournament victory this year.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each received a bye into the second round.

Qualification for the Mutua Madrid Open 2013 took place on May 4th and 5th, 2013. From 28 participants, seven qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
