The Mutua Madrileña Masters Madrid 2008 was a tennis tournament that took place from October 13th to 19th, 2008 in Madrid . It was part of the ATP Tour 2008 and was played indoors on a hard court. This season it was the eighth of nine tournaments in the ATP Masters Series .

David Nalbandian was the defending champion in the singles, who failed this year in the round of 16 against his compatriot Juan Martín del Potro . In the final, Andy Murray, fourth on the seeding list, won in two sets 6: 4, 7: 6 6 against Frenchman Gilles Simon, who surprisingly made it into the final . With that he won his seventh career title and the fourth title of the year. Bob and Mike Bryan were successful in doubles last year, but failed in the quarterfinals this year. In the final, the Poles Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski prevailed against Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles 6: 4, 6: 2.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 48 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The 16 seeded players in singles and eight pairings in doubles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize money was 2,057,000 euros; the total financial liabilities were 2,270,000 euros.

The qualification took place from October 11th to 12th, 2008. Six qualifying places that entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament were played out. There was also a lucky loser.
