Martin Damm (born August 1, 1972 in Liberec , ČSSR ) is a former Czech tennis player .

Career

The doubles specialist won 39 doubles titles on the ATP Tour in his career and made it into a final 20 more times. His greatest success was winning the US Open in 2006 with Leander Paes , with whom he had advanced to the final of the Australian Open that same year . Already in 1993 he had reached the final of the US Open with compatriot Daniel Vacek . In singles, Damm moved into five finals at ATP tournaments, but none of which he could win.

In 2006 he was at the side of Květa Peschke in the final of the mixed competition of the US Open , where she was defeated in two sets by Martina Navrátilová and Bob Bryan .

Damm achieved his highest rating in the individual tennis world ranking in August 1997 with position 42. In the double ranking he was in 5th place at the end of April 2007.

In November 2010, Martin Damm announced his retirement from professional tennis.

His son Martin Damm Jr. also plays tennis.
