Květa Peschke (born July 9, 1975 as Květoslava Hrdličková in Bílovec , then ČSSR ), officially Květoslava Peschkeová, is a Czech tennis player . Since the French Open 2007 she only competes in doubles; from July to September 2011 she was number 1 in the double world rankings together with Katarina Srebotnik .

Career

Peschke, who started tennis at the age of six, prefers carpet and hard courts. She is trained by her husband Torsten, with whom she has been married since 2003.

Her only title win at a WTA tournament in individual she recorded in 1998 in Makarska , Croatia , a year later she lost the WTA final in Leipzig against Nathalie Tauziat . In 2005 she achieved her best result in a Grand Slam tournament when she made it to the round of 16 at Wimbledon , which she lost to Nadja Petrowa .

In 2005 she won two and in 2006 four tournaments in the doubles competition, which was the first time she rose to the top 10 of the doubles world rankings . Since the French Open 2007 she only plays doubles and occupies top places in the ranking. On July 4, 2011, she and her long-term partner Katarina Srebotnik conquered the top of the world rankings. Before that she played u. a. with Jana Kandarr , Jelena Lichowzewa , Barbara Rittner , Anna-Lena Grönefeld , Francesca Schiavone and Rennae Stubbs .

In 1998 she played for the Czech Fed Cup team for the first time and also took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney for her country . In World Group I, she secured the decisive point for her team in 2010 alongside Lucie Hradecká against the German doubles Anna-Lena Grönefeld / Tatjana Malek . With her team, she won on November 6 in Moscow against Russia the Fed Cup final in 2011 with 3: 2nd

She started 2011 with a win at the tournament in Auckland . On the side of Srebotnik, she defeated the pairing Sofia Arvidsson / Marina Eraković with 6: 3, 6: 0. On February 28, she won in Doha (again with Srebotnik) against Liezel Huber / Nadja Petrowa double title number two this year. In June, the two also won the Eastbourne lawn tournament against Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond . On July 2, 2011, the duo, which has been extremely successful since March 2010, achieved its first success at a Grand Slam tournament. In the Wimbledon final, Peschke / Srebotnik beat Sabine Lisicki and Samantha Stosur 6: 3 and 6: 1.

In 2012, Peschke was in a mixed final at the US Open for the third time. At the side of Marcin Matkowski , however, she again drew the short straw, albeit very close with 10:12 in the decisive set.

After a break since February 2015, when she advanced to the second round at the side of Peng Shuai in Dubai , she returned to the tournament in Stuttgart in April 2016 with Anna-Lena Grönefeld and reached the semi-finals with her.

From 1998 to 2011 Peschke also played 31 games for the Czech Fed Cup team and recorded 16 wins.
