singles qualification The eight best placed women of the WTA Tour 2017 were qualified . In addition, the two next best points came as reservists.
Competition mode In the round of the tournament four players each played in two groups, each against each other (round robin) . The top two in each group qualified for the semi-finals, which were played according to the knockout system .
