On November 2, Wozniacki took part in the 2014 New York City Marathon . On her marathon debut, she covered the distance in 3 hours 26 minutes and 33 seconds.
2015 until resignation 2020
After her appearance at Wimbledon , where she was eliminated again in the round of 16 in 2015, the prize money she won on the women's tour exceeded the mark of US $ 20 million. At the US Open in 2016, after a long dry spell, she surprisingly made it into the semifinals, where the later Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber prevailed in a close match 6-4 and 6-3. After more than a year and a half without tournament success, Wozniacki won her WTA titles number 24 and 25 in Tokyo and Hong Kong in September and October .
In 2017 she defended her title in Tokyo . In the final of the Toray Pan Pacific Open 2017 , she defeated Anastassija Pavlyuchenkova 6-0 and 7-5. The greatest success in Wozniacki's career came at the Australian Open 2018 . There she met the top seeded Simona Halep, who she defeated after 2:49 hours with 7: 6 (7: 2), 3: 6, 6: 4. It was the first Grand Slam title for Wozniacki, with which she replaced Halep at the top of the world rankings . Wozniacki was able to secure two more titles in Eastbourne and Beijing later in the season , but lost their world rankings. In the end, she finished the year in third place in the ranking.
The 2019 season was far less successful for Wozniacki. Due to injuries and rheumatoid arthritis, a disease that she was diagnosed with in August 2018, she was unable to build on the successful times: She ended the season outside the top 20 and could only reach a final in Charleston . In December 2019, Wozniacki announced that she would end her career after the Australian Open 2020 .
