Alexandra Alexandrovna Panowa ( Russian Александра Александровна Панова ; born March 2, 1989 in Krasnodar , Soviet Union ) is a Russian tennis player .

Career

Panowa began playing tennis at the age of nine. She prefers to play from the baseline and, according to the WTA profile, prefers the clay court. So far, she has won eight singles and 16 doubles titles at ITF tournaments.

She won her first WTA title at the tournament in Tashkent, Uzbekistan . At the side of Tazzjana Putschak , she defeated Alexandra Dulgheru and Magdaléna Rybáriková 6: 3, 6: 4. She won title number two in February 2012 with doubles partner Eva Birnerová in Bogotá . The third title followed a good two months later at Petra Cetkovská's side in Fez, Morocco .

In May 2012 she reached position 74 in the world rankings . At the French Open , however, she was eliminated in round one with 3: 6, 3: 6 against Kaia Kanepi from Estonia. In Wimbledon, too, the end came with the opening match. Nevertheless, it was able to improve to 71st place in the ranking in July 2012.

In doubles, she moved up to 42nd place in April 2013. At the French Open in 2014, she and Kanepi made it to the round of 16 of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time . In July she won her fourth WTA title at the WTA tournament in Baku alongside Heather Watson . In total, she has won seven WTA double titles so far.

In 2013, Panova played for the Russian Fed Cup team and lost their only game.
