Julia Glushko (born January 1, 1990 in Donetsk , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Israeli tennis player .

Career

Glushko started playing tennis at the age of four. So far she has won 11 singles and 14 doubles titles at the ITF Women's Circuit . She played her first match for the Israeli Fed Cup team on April 22, 2007 against Canada , losing her singles to Marie-Ève Pelletier with 1: 6 and 1: 6. She has now played 37 Fed Cup games, 17 of which she has won.

In 2012, she immediately qualified for the US Open and was in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time . In round one she lost 5-7 and 2-6 against Yanina Wickmayer ; In 2013 she reached the third round there. 2014 was the first season in which she competed in the main round in singles at all Grand Slam tournaments. That year she reached the third round of the French Open , while she was eliminated in round one of the other tournaments.

Julia Glushko speaks Hebrew as well as English and Russian . Her younger sister Lina is also a professional tennis player.
