Marina Melnikova ( Russian Марина Анатольевна Мельникова , scientific transliteration ; English spelling Marina Melnikova ; born February 5, 1989 in Perm ) is a Russian tennis player .

Career

Melnikova, who started tennis at the age of five, prefers carpeting for her game. She has won five singles and 13 doubles titles at tournaments on the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour so far.

At the double competition in Barcelona in 2008 she was in the main field of a WTA tournament for the first time . She made her debut at a Grand Slam tournament at the Wimbledon Championships in 2016 , for which she received a wildcard from the tournament event. Before that, she had tried several times to reach the main round via qualification.

Melnikowa trains in Marl and plays for the Westphalian division Dortmund TK RW 98.
