Laura Pous Tió (born October 1, 1984 in Granollers ) is a former Spanish tennis player .
Career
In 2000, Pous Tió played her first ITF tournament in Tortosa, Spain . She has been a professional player since 2003. So far she has won 20 ITF tournaments in singles and nine in doubles. In 2005 she won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games , where she defeated Nuria Llagostera Vives in the final .
She has already qualified for the main draw in all four Grand Slam tournaments , but - with the exception of the US Open 2011 - she never got past the first round. In the same year she reached the side of her compatriot Lourdes Domínguez Lino in doubles at the French Open for the first time the second round. Together with her, she had her only appearance for the Spanish Fed Cup team in Moscow in April 2007 , the team defeated Russia 0: 5.
Since she was eliminated from an ITF tournament in Caserta, Italy in May 2017, she has not participated in a professional tournament.
Lock
On June 19, 2007, Pous Tió tested positive for the active ingredients hydrochlorothiazide and amiloride in the qualifying round of Wimbledon . She justified herself on the fact that she had taken the drug Amerid, which probably contained the banned substances (which she did not know), because of an injury. The ITF assessed her behavior as grossly negligent and banned her for two years.
