Carmen Valdés

Carmen Laura Valdés Capote (born November 23, 1954 in San José de las Lajas ) is a former Cuban sprinter .

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, she reached the semi-finals over 100 meters and won the bronze medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay with the Cuban team made up of Marlene Elejarde , Valdés, Fulgencia Romay and Silvia Chivás .

Four years later, she retired from the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal over 100 meters in the quarter-finals and with the Cuban relay in the preliminary run.

In 1973 she became Central America and Caribbean Vice Champion over 100 meters. At the Central America and Caribbean Games in 1974, she won over 100 and 200 meters .
