Tortosa ( Tarragona Province ) is an old Catalan episcopal city on the Ebro .
history
After the conquest by the Moors , Tortosa was regained in 1148 by a part of the army of the Second Crusade for Count Raimund Berengar IV of Barcelona . In the years 1413/14 the disputation of Tortosa took place here, one of the forced religious discussions between Christians and Jews in the Middle Ages.
During the Spanish Civil War , the area around the city was the scene of the Battle of the Ebro for four months in 1938 .
