L'Ampolla is located in the province of Tarragona in northeastern Spain . It is located in the Comarca Baix Ebre at the northern end of the Ebro Delta .

The neighboring municipalities of L'Ampolla include L'Aldea , Amposta , Camarles , Deltebre , Perello , L'Ametlla de Mar and Sant Jaume d'Enveja . Barcelona and Valencia are less than a two- hour drive from L'Ampolla.

history

L'Ampolla was originally part of the municipality of Perelló and became independent in 1989 after long arguments with Perelló. Formerly a small fishing village, today L'Ampolla is a very innovative place. The motorway connection caused a huge upswing at the end of 2001. But L'Ampolla had long been an insider tip for summer holidays, especially for Swiss people. Long, gently sloping sandy beaches made the place particularly attractive for families with children. Many seniors have chosen the tranquil area for their retirement home. In 2008, around half of the population were foreigners, the majority of whom were Swiss and, more recently, more and more English and Russian people.
