L'Ametlla de Mar ( La Ametlla de Mar in Spanish ) is a municipality in the Catalan province of Tarragona in Spain . With an area of 67.14 km², the population is 6787 (as of January 1, 2019).
The city is also known under the name La Cala .
Although located on the touristy Costa Daurada , L'Ametlla de Mar is still dominated by fishing . The permanent motorsport race track Circuit de Calafat is located in the Calafat district .
