In 1996 Llagostera Vives became a professional player on the WTA Tour . She made her debut in a Grand Slam tournament in 2001 at the Australian Open . The former clay court player was also very successful on hard courts from 2009. In singles, she won two WTA and eleven ITF tournaments in her career .
Llagostera Vives was much more successful in doubles. With her compatriot María José Martínez Sánchez , she won ten of her 16 double titles on the tour, plus five double titles at ITF tournaments. In addition, she was in doubles in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon and the Australian Open, she even reached the French Open twice and the semifinals once at the US Open.
In July 2013, Llagostera Vives tested positive for an amphetamine during the WTA tournament in Stanford . She neither presented a medical certificate nor gave reasons that could have justified the use of prohibited substances. She said she could not explain how the prohibited substance got into her body. It was banned for two years from September 8, 2013. The ITF announced the verdict on November 11th, and on November 19, 2013 Llagostera Vives announced her retirement.
Between 2005 and 2013 she was used in 16 games for the Spanish Fed Cup team . She won five of her eleven singles games and eight of twelve doubles games.
