The 2009 Rogers Cup was the 108th edition of the tennis hard court tournament in Toronto . It was part of the 2009 WTA Tour as a Premier 5 category tournament . The tournament took place from August 17 to 23, 2009 and was the fourth competition in the US Open Series , the preparatory series for the US Open .

Defending champion in singles was Dinara Safina and in doubles Cara Black and Liezel Huber .

In the singles Jelena Dementjewa won against Marija Sharapova 6: 4, 6: 3 and in the doubles Nuria Llagostera Vives / María José Martínez Sánchez against Samantha Stosur / Rennae Stubbs with 2: 6, 7: 5, [11: 9].
