Vania King ( chin .: 金久慈; born February 3, 1989 in Monterey Park , California ) is a former American tennis player .
Career
Vania King, whose parents emigrated from Taiwan to the United States in 1982 , began playing tennis at the age of four. In 2006 she became a professional player and achieved her best individual position in the WTA world rankings in November of that year with rank 50 .
At the US Open in 2006 she reached the quarterfinals in mixed alongside Vincent Spadea , where she was defeated by Justin Gimelstob and Meghann Shaughnessy 4: 6, 6: 1, [7:10]. She celebrated her greatest success in 2010 at Wimbledon by winning the doubles title alongside Jaroslawa Schwedowa , with whom she also triumphed at the US Open that same year . In 2011, two more double titles followed with Schwedowa at the WTA tournaments in Cincinnati and Moscow . It was only in January 2016 that she was able to celebrate a double title on the WTA Tour again . At the side of Monica Niculescu she won the Chinese tournament in Shenzhen .
Between 2006 and 2011 she played a total of 12 games for the US Fed Cup team , of which she won five (double balance: 4: 3).
King won a single and 15 double titles on the WTA Tour and was in the finals of another 12 tournaments. In June 2011 she achieved her best ranking in the double world ranking with 3rd place.
King retired from active tennis in the 2020 season during the corona-related break .
