The Brisbane International 2009 was a hard court tennis tournament in Brisbane . As a tournament of the international category, it was part of the WTA Tour 2009 and the follow -up tournament to the Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts in Gold Coast . The tournament took place for the first time from January 4th to 11th, 2009.

Defending champion in singles was Li Na and in doubles Dinara Safina and Ágnes Szávay . In 2009 the tournament license moved from Gold Coast to Brisbane.

In the singles Wiktoryja Asaranka won against Marion Bartoli 6: 3, 6: 1 and in the doubles Anna-Lena Grönefeld / Vania King against Klaudia Jans / Alicja Rosolska with 3: 6, 7: 5, [10: 5].
