Kateryna Wolodymyriwna Bondarenko ( Ukrainian Катерина Володимирівна Бондаренко ; born August 8, 1986 in Krywyj Rih , Ukrainian SSR , USSR ) is a Ukrainian tennis player .
Career
Kateryna is the younger sister of Aljona Bondarenko , who became a professional tennis player a year before her. The sisters together won the Australian Open double title in 2008 . They were also successful together at the WTA tournaments in Paris (2008) and Prague (2009). Her older sister Valeria Bondarenko ended her tennis career in 2008.
In singles, Kateryna Bondarenko won her only WTA tournament in Birmingham on June 15, 2008 , when she defeated Yanina Wickmayer 7: 6 7 , 3: 6 and 7: 6 4 in the final there.
At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, she competed for Ukraine in doubles, also at the side of her sister. They lost in the game for the bronze medal of the pairing Yan Zi / Zheng Jie from China with 2: 6 and 2: 6.
In April 2014, Kateryna Bondarenko returned to the tour after her baby break; at the indoor tournament in Katowice she failed in the qualification as well as later at the French Open. After further failures, she switched to the ITF Women's Circuit for the time being , where she celebrated two tournament victories in October.
For the Ukrainian Fed Cup team , she has played 34 games since 2005; their record shows 23 wins (double record: 12: 1).
