The Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions 2009 took place from November 4th to 8th, 2009 in Bali . It was the 1st edition of this women's tennis tournament and part of the WTA Tour 2009 .

In 2009 the tournament took place for the first time at the end of the season and as an invitation tournament. A double competition was not played.

Aravane Rezaï won the tournament against Marion Bartoli 7: 5, Bartoli gave up.

The ten best tournament winners of the 2009 season according to the individual world rankings who did not take part in the Sony Ericsson Championships the week before and who were able to win at least one tournament in the international category had qualified for the tournament. The organizer handed out two wildcards for the two remaining starting places . There was also a substitute player.

Initially, the game was played in four groups of three on the round robin principle . The respective group winners qualified for the semi-finals and played from there on in the knockout system .
