The 2009 Moorilla Hobart International was the 16th edition of the Hobart hard court tennis tournament . It was part of the WTA Tour 2009 as a tournament in the International category . The tournament took place at the same time as Medibank International Sydney in Sydney from January 11th to 16th, 2009.

Defending champion in singles was Eleni Daniilidou and in doubles Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual .

In the singles, Petra Kvitová won against Iveta Benešová 7: 5, 6: 1 and in the doubles Gisela Dulko / Flavia Pennetta against Aljona Bondarenko / Kateryna Bondarenko 6: 2, 7: 6 4 .
