The 2012 Moorilla Hobart International was a hard court tennis tournament for women in Hobart . It was part of the WTA Tour 2012 as a tournament in the International category . The tournament took place from January 8th to 14th, 2012.

At the same time, the Apia International took place in Sydney as a tournament in the premier category of the WTA Tour 2012.

The individual winner was Mona Barthel , who played her way through qualifying to victory. In the main round she beat the players seeded in positions 2, 5, 4 and 1 (in this order) and was able to win her first WTA tournament with her final victory of 6: 1, 6: 2 against Yanina Wickmayer, who was seeded in position 1 .

In doubles, the Romanian duo Irina-Camelia Begu / Monica Niculescu won , who were able to prevail in a tight final against Chuang Chia-jung / Marina Eraković 6: 7 4 , 7: 6 4 and [10: 5].
