Barrois began playing tennis in 1991 and preferred the hard court.

She reached the second round at least once in all four Grand Slam tournaments . She won 15 singles and 16 doubles titles at the ITF Women's Circuit .

On the WTA Tour she celebrated her greatest sporting success in singles in 2010 at the clay court tournament in Strasbourg with the entry into the final, which she lost to top seed Maria Sharapova with 5-7, 1-6. She also took part in the final in 2011 on clay in Estoril , where she was clearly defeated by Anabel Medina Garrigues in the final with 1: 6, 2: 6.

In 2011 Barrois reached the final at the indoor tournament in Stuttgart , in which she and doubles partner Jasmin Wöhr had to admit defeat to the pairing Sabine Lisicki / Samantha Stosur with 1: 6 and 6: 7 5 .

Her appearances in the German Fed Cup team were less successful, her three games (2006 in Beijing, doubles and singles, and 2010 in France, doubles) were all lost.

Kristina Barrois ended her professional career in October 2014 after the WTA tournament in Luxembourg . At the side of Timea Bacsinszky , she won her only WTA title in the doubles competition.

The former national soccer goalkeeper Bernd Franke was her fitness coach for seven years until she retired and accompanied her on the tour during this time.
