The German Fed Cup team (also called Porsche Team Germany after the main sponsor ) is Germany's national women's tennis team that is used in the Fed Cup . The Fed Cup (until 1995 Federation Cup) is the most important international competition in women's tennis , analogous to the Davis Cup for men.

history

The German Fed Cup team, which is one of the established teams in the world group, made it to the finals seven times and won the title twice (1987 and 1992). In 1987 she was named Team of the Year after winning the title . From 2005 the team developed into an elevator team . Every descent was followed by an immediate ascent or an ascent was followed by an immediate descent. In 2014, after 22 years, they reached the Fed Cup final again , which they lost 3-1 to the Czech Republic. In the election of the team of the year 2014 , the team took eighth place.

The German women's tennis team has been performing as the Porsche Tennis Team Germany since 2012 . The sports car manufacturer Porsche has sponsored the team since 2012. The contract has been extended several times so far.
