The German Ski Association e. V. , DSV for short , is the umbrella organization of German ski clubs founded on November 4th, 1905. The German Ski Association represents the interests of German skiing internationally and trains athletes and coaches . The association is based in Planegg, southwest of Munich .

history

Local ski clubs were established before the DSV was founded. In 1890, the first German ski club, SC München, was founded and was soon dissolved again. In 1891 the SC Todtnau followed, in 1892 the WSV Braunlage , and in 1896 the Ski Club Sankt Andreasberg. In 1903, Wilhelm Paulcke from SC Schwarzwald considered establishing a higher-level association. On September 12, 1905, the delegates from eleven associations with a total of around 2500 members were invited to the Augustinerbräu restaurant in Munich . There, on November 4th, the founding of the German Ski Association was decided by a vote of 165-79. At the same time, the Austrian Ski Association was founded in another room in the restaurant . The first president was Wilhelm Offermann, who was one of the initiators of German skiing alongside Wilhelm Paulcke and Franz Kohlhepp. The current president of the DSV is Franz Steinle .

In 2002, the DSV opened the German Ski Museum Planegg (DSMP) in the Haus des Ski in Planegg. According to DSV, it includes the most important collection of ski exhibits in the world.

Anti-doping initiative

The anti-doping initiative of the German Ski Association was launched in 2006 as a reaction to the doping discussion in cycling on the Tour de France . As one of the first sports associations worldwide, the DSV installed a medical database in which the blood values of all athletes are archived and can be viewed and controlled by NADA as an independent control body. The DSV is also taking part in a comprehensive medical study by the World Anti-Doping Agency as part of the Antidoping Initiative . The aim of the study is to develop a test procedure to be able to safely rule out future blood manipulation. As an additional control instrument, so-called athlete passes are issued to all DSV squad athletes.
